I’ve got my first night rallycross event next month. As is perdition, I figured I should get some extra wattage to light up the course.
Not as obnoxious as this; only slightly less obnoxious as this
As with almost everything on the Transit Connect, there are no kits made for it. So I’ll have to whip something up together. Should I do LED bar(s)? Circle lamps? Flood lights vs spot lights? Amber or white?
I’ll probably install them on the front bumper or the hood, but I do have a weird interest in slapping on some KC lights (or similar) on the roof like you’ve all seen on trucks. I’ll wire a separate switch to turn these on, that way I’m not blinding everyone on the road during everyday commuting.
I’ve never messed with light bars or rally lights before, so any recommendations for a decent brand or set up would be great.
Update
Narrowed it down to KC lights. The retro Daylighters or their new Pro-Sport line.
The Daylighters can be set up to be either spot lights or driving lights, the Pro-Sport comes in the wide-40 configuration. Seems like the only major difference besides the beam pattern is a poly-carbonate construction on the Pro-Sports vs. a stainless steel construction on the Daylighters .

This is what I have on the Mini. The kit comes will all the wiring necessary, along with a switch and relay.
And I was able to install them myself.

The kit you bought, is it halogen or LED? I can’t seem to figure out your setup

Spend the money, get Baja Designs. Pods are better than bars IMO.
or, if you are rich...Lazer lights out of the UK. They are Transit specialists

I bought the halogens...but the LEDs should be similar I think.
If you buy 4 of those lights, they should be more than sufficient imo

I’m leaning towards pods or round lights.

BD is the best quality, but highest price. Rigid is a good middle ground I hear.

KC Daylighters with smiley face covers > all
They'd fit the 90's theme of the Jan Van quite nicely too.

I’m all in on the KC’s. Next question is spot lights or wide-40's?

Go old school, candles and some mirrors.

So this is the latest trend in brodozers? Stadium lighting? Just another reason to hate on those things, I guess..

Daylighters. No question. The Jan Van deserves them.

No idea, just typed “obnoxious light bars” in google and this popped up.

Yes. All bro trucks must have a light bar. Light bar must be on at all times. I think it is in the bible or something.
